As the genocide continues in Gaza, campus organizers across the world have been central in the movement for Palestinian liberation as they call on their universities to end participation in genocide, settler colonialism, occupation, and apartheid. Commit to Palestine is a set of resources from the American Friends Service Committee designed specifically for student organizers. Here you can find ideas for educational events, help on divestment campaigns, critical fundraising tools, and resources that center the voices of Palestinians.

Invest
Fundraising for Palestine is an urgent ask. AFSC staff have worked in Gaza since 1948, when the United Nations asked us to organize relief efforts for Palestinian refugees violently displaced in the Nakba. Our team in Gaza is delivering life-saving humanitarian aid as conditions allow. They have already reached more than 1 million people with water, fresh vegetables, prepared meals, and hygiene kits.
Divest
The public commitments that students have won at Wesleyan, University of Washington, San Francisco State University, and other institutions, have had immediate impact, making clear to decision makers that complicity in Israeli occupation, settler colonialism, and apartheid is unacceptable. AFSC maintains an extensive database on companies complicit in violations of human rights. Our staff have experience building strategic and winnable divestment campaigns and offer consultation to students looking for assistance in their campaign.
Educate
Israel has destroyed or damaged at least 80% of the schools in Gaza, including every university. Students on campuses around the world have a unique opportunity to uplift the voices of Palestinian students whose education has been stolen from them. We’ve curated two collections of stories from Palestinians in Gaza, one from before the genocide and one collected in 2024.
Mobilize
There are many ways your campus community can take action beyond divestment. Creative events are a great way to involve those in your community that might not come to a rally or demonstration and highlight lesser known aspects of Palestinian history and culture. Participate in our Goals for Gaza or Kites for Gaza campaigns or pass a resolution declaring your campus apartheid-free.
