The Right to Asylum

Migrants should be welcomed with dignity and have their human rights respected. But today, the United States is failing its obligation to do that.

For the past two years, the U.S. has turned away hundreds of thousands of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border under Title 42. This anti-immigrant policy has deported many people back to dangerous conditions—and forced others to take treacherous routes, facing extreme heat, violence, and even death.

Now, our elected officials are considering new measures to bar migrants from seeking asylum and further militarize our southern border.

It's time to restore the right to asylum—and welcome migrants with the dignity and compassion we all deserve.
