Nuclear weapons do not make us safer. They threaten every community, every ecosystem, and every future generation. Yet the U.S. continues to invest billions in these weapons of mass destruction—ignoring both the moral and strategic imperative to disarm.

Earlier this year, Rep. Jim McGovern introduced H. Res. 317, a resolution calling for renewed U.S. leadership on nuclear arms control and a pathway toward a world free of nuclear weapons. In the Senate, Sen. Ed Markey introduced the companion resolution, S. Res. 323, reinforcing this urgent call across both chambers of Congress.

On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched major military attacks on Iran. This is immoral and blatantly illegal. 

No president has the authority to use military force against another nation. And no matter what the Trump administration claims, war will never lead to peace. It will cost thousands of lives. It will further destabilize the Middle East. And it will make all of us less safe.
