Throughout 2019, thousands of people with Temporary Protected (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED), their families, and communities have continued to organize and advocate to save these vital programs.    

Tiera Rainey is a Program Coordinator with AFSC-AZ, where she advocates and organizes against the use of alternative forms of carceral control, including electronic monitoring and surveillance. A graduate of Vassar College and George Washington University, she is an abolitionist and proud Black second-generation Tucsonan.

Did you know that the money the federal government spends on ICE and CBP could provide school lunches for 47 million children, or homes for over 115,2000 families? As Congress rushes to pass a spending bill before the deadline on Friday, it is important to let them know that we want investment in programs that build our communities up rather than tearing them apart.

Email your member of Congress and tell them to Defund Hate and restrict ICE and CBP’s ability to take funds from other agencies!
