In July, the AFSC Atlanta Economic Justice Program launched the Home Defender Project to protect people from eviction during the coronavirus pandemic. While the CDC has thankfully issued a nationwide moratorium on evictions, Home Defenders continue to help people facing housing insecurity. That includes providing organizing support to tenant associations, and assisting callers who contact the Tenant Power Hotline, operated by our partner the Housing Justice League (HJL).

The 2020 ArteVism Fellowship Program is proud to announce the release of their video project “More than a Bread Basket.” The video premiered on Jan. 25, 2021.

Created, written, and directed by the ArteVism fellows, this project is the culmination of nine months of work. With the help of a learning group made up of youths from Fresno, Merced, and Tulare counties, the fellows use storytelling and dramatization to discuss active citizenship and social problems pertinent to their communities.
