Jordan, a country of 11.5 million, has long since been known for providing sanctuary for those fleeing conflict in the region. Despite its small size, the country hosts approximately 1.3 million refugees. While the vast majority are of Syrian nationality, several other refugee communities exist, each contributing to the diverse social fabric of Jordanian society. This short documentary film seeks to capture stories from the perspectives of refugees from six different nationalities and touches on the complexities of their lives as they navigate challenges, strive to create change in their communities, and dream of a brighter future.
This project, led by AFSC Middle East in partnership with JRS Jordan, began with bringing together a group of refugees from various backgrounds, coming from Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, and Eritrea. The group worked together to envision the messages they wanted to present in the film, determine who from their communities should share their stories, and guide the production process at every step. The result was an excellent short documentary film highlighting the diversity of refugee communities in Jordan, developed collaboratively by community members.
