In recent weeks, AFSC and the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) distributed more than 2,600 essential kits containing diapers and baby formula to over 2,000 children in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. Together, we were able to reach over 80% of families in the area. Our efforts were supported by War Child Holland and the Social Developmental Forum, which also distributed kits in Gaza’s Middle Area.
The need for these supplies is critical. Famine is growing in Gaza, and children are dying of starvation. Many newborns are unable to breastfeed because their mothers can’t get the minimum nutrition needed to produce milk. This has forced families to rely on baby formula, but the high cost of formula and diapers has made it difficult for them to afford these basic necessities.
The challenges faced by Palestinian families in Khan Younis are compounded by the constant displacement. Like many places in Gaza, Palestinians sheltering there have been forced to leave their homes or tents multiple times within a single month. This relentless cycle of displacement makes life incredibly difficult, particularly for women who have just given birth and those with young children. Each time, they must dismantle their makeshift shelters and set them up again in different locations, adding to the physical and emotional toll of their situation.
Your support has been essential in helping these families navigate such difficult circumstances. Thank you for your commitment to this vital work and for continuing to advocate for a cease-fire and humanitarian access for Gaza.
