When meat returned to local markets in Gaza last month, our team jumped at the opportunity. For the first time in months, we were able to provide families with something they had been missing: a hot, nourishing meal.
AFSC partnered with local kitchens to serve hot meals of chicken and rice to families living in tents and damaged homes.
These meals were more than food. They offered rare moments of comfort amid more than two years of genocide. And they helped restore some dignity and hope.
Working with local partners and volunteers, we were able to deliver:
- Hot meals to more than 9,000 people.
- Winter blankets to over 200 families living in tents.
- 500 fresh vegetable baskets to displaced families.
The vegetable baskets included produce grown by Gaza farmers as well as imported items, ensuring both quality nutrition and support for the local agricultural community. This approach reflects AFSC’s long-term commitment to Palestinians. As we work to meet urgent needs, our support for local farmers helps build toward a future beyond survival.
The genocide in Gaza is far from over. Although a ceasefire agreement has been in place since October, the situation on the ground remains dire. Israel has continued its airstrikes on Gaza. Winter storms have caused widespread damage to tents and shelters. And Israel’s severe restrictions on humanitarian aid continue to impede relief efforts.
AFSC remains steadfast in supporting Palestinians through this crisis. Supporters like you make our work possible. With your help, we have provided food, water, hygiene kits, and other lifesaving aid to more than 1 million displaced Palestinians.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for standing with the people of Gaza.
