Global Policy Coordinator for Migration Justice

Imani Cruz serves as the Global Policy Coordinator for Migration Justice with AFSC’s Department of Global Policy and Strategy where she promotes policies driven by non-violent Quaker values and the impacted communities AFSC works with in the US, Latin America, and Africa. 

Before joining AFSC, Imani directly served newly-arrived immigrants with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), advocated on domestic and international policy issues with the ACLU and U.S. Congress. Additionally, she has volunteered with numerous organizations including the Migration Youth & Children Platform (UN), Young Center, No More Deaths/ Keep Tucson Together, Kino Border Initiative, National Lawyers Guild, AmeriCorps, Red Cross, ONE campaign, Guardian ad Litem/CASA, and RESULTS. 

Imani has a master’s degree in Public Policy Analysis from Arizona State University, a certificate in Global Displacement and Migration Studies from Georgetown University, and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Tampa. Imani is a proud Black Latina from a diverse, immigrant family. In her free time, she enjoys connecting with nature and experiencing the cultures and foods of the world.
