Douglas Juárez

Douglas Juárez is from Guatemala with studies in political science and experience on social projects with civil society with emphasis on capacity building, advocacy, and human rights. He serves as AFSC's Latin America and Caribbean Advocacy coordinator. As a member of the regional leadership team, Douglas leads AFSC’s advocacy and policy strategies, supporting both, the Peace with social justice and the Migration justice regional programs by building and supporting coalitions and mobilizing constituencies to protecting and expanding political spaces so that people historically impacted by systems of oppression in the region can participate and influence decision-making focused on social, environmental, and migration justice.

He is a spokesperson on behalf of regional policy matters and relevant international advocacy priorities, and work closely with AFSC’s Office of Public Policy and Advocacy to bring the voices of LAC region to Washington, D.C. and in the international arena.

Prior to taking up this position, Douglas worked with AFSC for 7 years as regional program coordinator. Before joining AFSC, Douglas implemented institutional strengthening and exchange of advocacy experiences from and for civil society and community-based organizations, support for social projects, and virtual teacher in a regional academic institution.
