We can’t just organize, we gotta heal from it. As we transition into the fall past September, the work continues but we want you to practice self care and grounding. We appreciate your ongoing support for our efforts to transform our homes, neighborhoods, communities, and city in meaningful ways. #REALSTUDENTSAFETY YOUTH ART SHOWCASE

 

AFSC St. Louis is announcing our #RealStudentSafety Youth Art Showcase for young people ages 14-21! This is NOT a compeition but an opportunity for young people to express themselves and be rewarded for their time alongside talent. If you had millions of dollars, how would you make your school safe without policing? Submit today! For youth that follow the guidelines, you will be rewarded a $100 Gift Card. Someone from AFSC St. Louis will reach out soon with more details! Link

  • Attend one of the abolition workshops or watch this video recording 
  • Submit an art piece, project, proposal, or essay by SATURDAY, October 24th, at 11:59pm
  • Share about your piece at our upcoming virtual or in-person Showcase (Date, location, and details to be announced)

VIRTUAL LEARNING SESSION #4 RECORDING

Need a introduction or refresher into what the #RealStudentSafety campaign is about? Do you want a sense of what we mean by "abolition," "divest and invest," and more? AFSC St. Louis recorded our last Virtual Learning on Abolition Session #4 which took place September 20th, 2020. Watch this video recording to learn!

 

 

#REALSTUDENTSAFETY CAMPAIGN

FEEDBACK WANTED

 

We can not win this campaign alone. We'd like to get feedback from you on ideas on how to best move forward in holding St. Louis Public Schools accountable to transforming safety within schools. If you are interested in joining a session in which ideas will be shared out, please express interest with Peace Program Associate Jonathan Pulphus in an email around this at jpulphus@afsc.org. The date and time for the feedback session is TBD.

 

In the meantime, please continue acting on or sharing the following action steps:

 1) Sign the petition

2) Call and email Dr. Adams and the School Board

3) Follow the #RealStudentSafety campaign and AFSC St. Louis on social media.
