9th Annual Farmer Gathering Builds Connections

On March 7, 2022, AFSC New Mexico convened farmers and partners for our 9th annual Farmer Gathering. For the first time in over two years, we met in person to reconnect, reaffirm our relationship with each other, and discuss our futures together.

You're invited to attend the opening of our new exhibit on Friday, April 22nd, from 5-7pm at the Gutiérrez Hubbell House! In partnership with the South Valley Association of Acequias, CESOSS and the Gutiérrez Hubbell House, Angelina and Sayrah guest curated Nuestras Acequias: Remembering our History, Irrigating our Crops, Nourishing the Future of our Community, on exhibit from April 22nd - July 9th, 2022.

You're invited to celebrate and pray with us on San Ysidro Day. The ancient annual procession and blessing of San Ysidro y Santa María de la Cabeza will commence at 3pm on Sunday May 15, 2022. The blessing is a beautiful blend of indigenous and Spanish Catholic traditions. AFSC New Mexico is excited to share its new booklet, "Crunch, Munch, & Chomp: Findings from Farm to Early Childhood Education in New Mexico," by Sayrah Namaste and Angelina Lopez-Brody. Working together with farmers and early childhood education staff to create a Farm to Early Childhood Education program was a learning experience for all of us. We documented the five years of experience into a short booklet with our insights, photos and stories while highlighting the voices of farmers and teachers.
