On April 2, AFSC St. Louis joined youth and youth advocates from across Missouri for Child Advocacy Day in Jefferson City. AFSC staff Joshua Saleem and Jonathan Pulphus met with several state legislators, including Rep. Wiley Price, Rep. Kevin Windham, and Sen. Jamila Nasheed.
They discussed several topics, including statewide legislation that would provide accountability for School Resource Officers, make curriculum changes, and transform the way teachers are trained. All of these issues were lifted up by young people at their recent AFSC Freedom School.
AFSC St. Louis was one of several St. Louis organizations organized by the Deaconess Foundation to participate in this year’s advocacy day.
