Artwork #4: "Equal" (Setara)
By ELFA KHOIRUL WAFA'
This painting portrays the scales of justice, symbolizing that men and women are equal under the law. Similarly, education should treat both genders equally. However, gender stereotypes still persist—suggesting that men are more needed or prioritized. This is depicted through a visual metaphor: the male symbol appears fewer in number because it's more "in demand," while the female symbol appears more frequently, symbolizing that fewer people "choose" women. In reality, women are equally capable of achieving many things and deserve the same educational opportunities as men.
The artwork predominantly uses black and gray tones to represent the ambiguity surrounding the concept of "equality" in the country. Pink is used to symbolize femininity and the feminist spirit of women.
