Artwork #3: “Hope”

Artwork #3: “Hope”

By Yelmi Nanda Resfi

This artwork tells the story of the current state of education in Indonesia, emphasizing the urgent need for attention and improvement. Many aspects still require serious reform, such as education funding, school facilities, teacher welfare, and the lack of support for student and teacher diversity and abilities. While initiatives like free school lunches are welcome, they should not overshadow these more critical educational needs. Students in remote or rural areas often face major struggles just to reach school, compounded by poor infrastructure, damaged buildings, and inadequate learning resources. The hope is that the government prioritizes these pressing issues to truly advance the quality of education in Indonesia, beyond just offering free meals.
