The Rose Foundation granted to many organizations, including ours, to support newcomer migrants. AFSC trained nine Denver area Not1More member leaders to be Know Your Rights trainers. In the last two weeks, six of our member leaders have provided four trainings at shelters to more than 60 people and helped orient newcomers to the Denver area.

Not1More Deportation Fort Morgan met with Republican Congressman Ken Buck’s office via zoom.
Make sure to update your address so we can invite you to join meetings with your congressperson! Five of our member leaders participated and asked Rep. Buck's office to support the Asylum Work Authorization Act to streamline the work permit process for asylum seekers.
The staffer indicated that Congressman Buck does not think the border should be open to those seeking asylum, does not support changing laws to facilitate people’s access to a work permit while they wait for court, will never be in favor of any law that would allow people to move from being undocumented to documented, nor any expansion of employment-based VISA quotas. Not so easily deterred, we’ll continue meeting every two months with Congressman Buck!
Coloradans for Immigrant Rights members met with Colorado’s newest members of Congress – Reps. Petterson and Caraveo, read testimony at the statehouse for Not1More members who couldn’t get off work, and accompanied four people to their court or ICE appointments.

Tuesday April 25 5:00pm Join us for our April Spotlight on the Colorado Rapid Response Network! Part 1 of a two-part series.
Part 1 - Virtual: Come learn about the Colorado’s Rapid Response Network volunteer roles and begin training to be a Confirmer and Legal Observer! Learn how to respond safely to immigration enforcement and raids, help people protect their rights and keep their loved ones safer. Spanish/English interpretation provided! Register in advance for this meeting: After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Part 2 will occur on April 29 in person from 10:00 am to 12:00 Attendance at Part 1 is a pre-requisite for part 2! Any and all experience levels welcome. Share on Facebook
Saturday and Sunday May 7 & 8 - Come table with us at our Cinco de Mayo booth – Volunteer to engage the public with us and have fun! Meet other people dedicated to human rights and dignity! We’ll be hosting a booth with information on Not1More Deportation and Coloradans for Immigrant Rights. Talk with folks about how to get involved supporting newcomers and the need for a path to citizenship. Spread the word about upcoming events and the Colorado Rapid Response Network. Volunteer at a clinic for people seeking asylum – virtually or in person with the Colorado Asylum Project!
At these clinics, volunteers assist asylum seekers in filling out their asylum applications so they can stay in the court process and request asylum. Training happens an hour before the workshop begins and applications will be reviewed by attorneys! Sign up to volunteer by emailing coasylum@gmail.com or filling out the volunteer form
