In Somalia, AFSC is working to equip youth with tools for peace. Through the Alternatives to Violence Project(AVP), young people learn to resolve conflict and strengthen their communities. AFSC is supporting young people as they develop ideas for building lasting peace.
AVP training empowers youth to make changes within themselves and their communities. They lead local initiatives, to great success. These range from addressing practical problems like garbage collection to leading community groups. Youth join with village elders and community members to discuss feedback on their work.
