Seeds of resilience in Gaza

Working with local farmers, we have provided urgently needed food to hundreds of Palestinians in northern Gaza.

I am writing to you from Gaza with a rare piece of positive news amid the continuing humanitarian crisis. After a temporary interruption in operations, our team has resumed relief efforts to support displaced Palestinians.

In recent weeks, we have successfully connected with local farmers in the south of Gaza, providing them with support and practical assistance. Through this collaboration, we were able to purchase fresh vegetables from these farmers at fair prices and deliver much-needed food relief in the north of Gaza. A total of 300 food baskets—containing tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, and zucchinis—were distributed to help meet the urgent needs of displaced families.

Over the past year and a half, our team has provided food, water, hygiene kits, and other vital aid to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza. Today, our efforts are more critical than ever. Since March 2, 2025, Israel’s blockade has prevented all lifesaving aid from entering Gaza, once again pushing people to the brink of starvation. Our team is working tirelessly to source what we can locally, but our efforts alone cannot meet the enormous need.

It is a testament to the strength and determination of Palestinian farmers that they have managed to grow anything in this crisis. Much of Gaza's agricultural land has been destroyed or is impossible to access, forcing many farmers to abandon their fields. Those who remain struggle with critical shortages of seeds, water, fuel, and farming equipment. The resilience of these farmers represents the unwavering spirit of Palestinians in Gaza, who continue to support each other in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Thank you for your ongoing generosity and solidarity in these times.
