Mary Zerkel is the Interim Regional Director of the Midwest Region. She is Coordinator of the Healing Justice network of AFSC. Mary formerly directed the Chicago Peacebuilding program, which works toward the demilitarization of U.S. foreign and domestic policy, and coordinated the Communities Against Islamophobia and Community Safety Beyond Policing projects. 

Mary has worked for AFSC for over 30 years on a variety of issues and projects and coordinated the internationally acclaimed AFSC Eyes Wide Open exhibit, as well as the nationally touring Cost of War and Windows and Mirrors:  Reflections on the War in Afghanistan exhibits. 

Mary is also an artist and co-founder of a mutual aid/art hub in her community.
