Associate Director of the AFSC Michigan Criminal Justice Program

Jacara Moore is Associate Director of the AFSC Michigan Criminal Justice Program, where she drives efforts to confront the crisis of long and life sentences. As a formerly incarcerated woman, she brings lived experience that sharpens her leadership, deepens her credibility, and fuels her commitment to justice.

A recent graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Jacara pairs academic training with experience in public speaking, program management, and community‑rooted advocacy. She also draws on her background in manufacturing—skills in systems, coordination, and problem‑solving that she hopes to use to help create healthy, dignified spaces for people returning home from incarceration.

Grounded, resilient, and solutions‑driven, Jacara works to expand opportunity and healing for Michigan’s justice‑impacted communities. Outside of her work, she explores her creativity through art and playing her favorite instruments.
