Gaven Green is a member of Quaker Voluntary Service’s 2024-2025 cohort, and will be a part of the American Friends Service Committee's Quaker Engagement team in AFSC’s South Region until June 2025. Gaven comes to AFSC by way of Swarthmore College, where he graduated in 2024 with a special major in political science and education studies, and a minor in film and media studies. At Swarthmore, Gaven led the First-generation, Low-income Council, organized with the Student Palestine Coalition, served as a Student Government Organization Senator for the class of 2024, and helped run the Cinema Club. Gaven was drawn to Quaker Voluntary Service and AFSC after working with Quakers who visited Swarthmore to support justice in Palestine, and learning how closely Quaker values aligned with his own.
In his role at AFSC, Gaven focuses on building and nurturing relationships with Friends meetings, churches, and Quaker colleges and organizations in the South Region. He works to strengthen our liaison program and create opportunities for Friends to organize and take action in partnership with our campaigns.
