Youth Activism Fellow

Akira Rose is the NY program’s Youth Activism Fellow working closely with youth with a goal of empowering them to think differently about the carceral system though our Liberation Summer Camp and Liberation Academy. She helps prepare tomorrow’s activists with information and tools needed to contribute to the changes they want to see in their communities.

Akira is a graduate of UMass Amherst with a concentration in Social Thought and Political Economy and a thesis on the Black Radical Tradition. She is passionate about and organizes around anti-colonial struggles, Black liberation, and abolition. She is also a performance artist, using her creative practices to highlight the joy of abolition and to envision the new world to come.
