Trauma healing in South Sudan

In South Sudan, AFSC is supporting community peacebuilders. We provide training and counseling to local peacebuilders as they lead and support their communities. We focus on trauma healing for peacebuilders to ensure that they are able to continue their work sustainably.

AFSC's South Sudan trauma healing efforts have reached more than 2,000 peacebuilders. Each one of these peacebuilders makes an impact. They provide trainings to others in their communities, sharing what they have already learned.

The South Sudan program places an emphasis on supporting women and youth. Peacebuilders lead self-help groups for local women that meet regularly. These groups provide safe spaces, encouraging women to support one another as they learn. These groups also teach women skills they can use to support themselves and their families financially.
