The Quaker Action for Just Migration project will establish a network of Quaker congregations committed to acting for migrant justice in direct alignment with AFSC’s mission and strategic goals, joining together those experienced in the work and those new to it. Members of the Quaker Action for Just Migration Network will share, learn, and support each other in activism to ensure the rights, safety, and dignity of migrant communities in the US. The fellow will contribute to communications and community engagement work in establishing and growing this network. The fellow will support the supervisor, AFSC’s Director of Quaker Engagement, in a number of project activities, including recruiting Quaker congregations to join the Quaker Action for Migration Justice Network (QAMJN) through in-person and online presentations with Quaker audiences, collaborating with AFSC’s Director of Migration Justice and relevant staff working on migration justice in NH, NJ, CO, CA, OR, and FL to identify ways to engage Quakers in AFSC's local program work. The fellow will distribute project-related materials (posters, brochures, etc.) to Quaker communities by mail and develop a plan with AFSC's Director of Quaker Engagement to transfer management of the network and data collected. The internship appointment is for 9 consecutive weeks, with an expected time commitment of approximately 37.5 hours per week.
