President Biden just released his budget proposal for next year, which Congress will use as a blueprint to start negotiating funding levels. To truly meet the needs of communities across the country, we need to invest in programs that enable the people and planet to thrive. We must divest from weapons, war, and abusive policing and immigration systems that separates families and dehumanize our neighbors. Instead, we need to expand economic assistance for necessities like childcare, housing, food, health care, and climate protections.
