The summer heat is coming, and among the shattered homes and displacement camps across Gaza, that means the need for clean water is more urgent than ever.
Since the start of the genocide, AFSC and partners have provided clean water to more than 200,000 Palestinians living in displacement camps and temporary shelters. Our work is made possible by the ongoing support of caring people like you.
Wherever we go, the scene is the same. Seniors, parents, and children crowd around our water trucks with empty jugs.
An estimated 80% of people in Gaza rely entirely on water trucks to survive. Nearly 90% of water and sanitation infrastructure has been destroyed. But ongoing restrictions on construction and maintenance materials have made repairs nearly impossible.
Families ration water carefully. They save what they receive for drinking and cooking while sacrificing hygiene and sanitation. Parents worry every day about keeping their children safe from dehydration and waterborne illness.
The stress and uncertainty around something as essential as clean water have become part of daily survival. It shouldn't be.
With your support, AFSC is working directly with communities facing the greatest shortages. We are coordinating with local partners to deliver clean water to those with nowhere else to turn.
When we delivered water to a camp housing more than 2,000 people, one resident told us: “We need every drop of water. We need water daily to drink, to wash clothes, and for everything else—because water is life."
We are so grateful for supporters like you who sustain our vital work in Gaza. Your solidarity is felt here on the ground every single day.
Thank you for standing with Palestinians in Gaza.
