Protecting students and families from ICE

Every child deserves to go to school without fear. Every parent should be able to send their kids to class knowing they'll come home safely.

But that's not the reality for many immigrant families right now, as the Trump administration detains and deports more of our community in towns and cities across the U.S.

Recently, we spoke with Marisol Mondaca, a bilingual clinician at Red Bank Regional High School in New Jersey. She talked about the impacts of anti-immigrant policies on her school community. Some students have had parents detained or deported. One mother was afraid to let her son bike to school in case he was stopped by ICE.

AFSC has worked closely with Red Bank High School to help students and their families feel safer and more supported. We have provided Know Your Rights trainings to more than 130 school staff members. We also held a community meeting to help parents understand their rights and prepare for encounters with ICE.

Thanks to supporters like you, AFSC is working to ensure that fewer people face these challenges alone. By building networks of knowledge and support, community members are better equipped to protect themselves and one another.
