A group of people sit around several tables writing letters together and talking.

AFSC is committed to building and nurturing relationships with Quaker meetings, churches, organizations, colleges, and schools. With AFSC’s guidance and support, liaisons help mobilize Friends to participate in public witness and direct action. We invite you to join our liaison program to support your community in partnering with us to build a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.

The liaison role involves:

  • Sharing AFSC engagement opportunities with your Quaker Community
    • Help share news about AFSC’s worldwide work and opportunities for Friends to get involved. You can spread the word about AFSC’s Quaker engagement opportunities through meeting/community newsletters, listservs, or social media. You can also make announcements about AFSC’s work at the rise of worship or during a business meeting. Each month, AFSC sends out our Acting in Faith enewsletter, which will provide you the latest updates and resources to share.
  • Mobilizing your community around AFSC programs and campaigns.
    • Liaisons act as a first point of contact for Friends to participate in AFSC-led movements and campaigns. We’ll reach out to you directly to help us mobilize Friends and other community members on the ground. That may include encouraging Friends to attend a protest, sign a petition, or organize calls to elected officials.
  • Attending our quarterly liaison calls.
    • Four times per year, AFSC hosts a Zoom call for all liaisons to hear updates about AFSC’s work, learn more about the liaison program, and connect with fellow liaisons across the country. On each call, you’ll also hear from an AFSC staff member on a particular program or campaign at AFSC. If you’re unable to attend, recordings are sent out after the call.
