Farajii Muhammad

Farajii Muhammad serves as AFSC’s Youth Empowerment Coordinator and director of the Piece by Peace program in Baltimore, MD. In this capacity, he works with young people to empower their communities, end racism and police brutality, and develop positive models of youth leadership.

Farajii has over 15 years of experience working with young people. He co-founded the New Leadership Learning Center at the age of 19. As president and spokesman for the youth-governed organization, he worked to develop young leaders, connect youth to resources, and bridge the gap between youth and local government. In 2006, Farajii was awarded the Echoing Green Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurs to continue his work of organizing and training youth.

Farajii is a frequent speaker at community and national events, and has presented at workshops and conferences across the country. He has received honors from both community and government officials for his work. He is also a local media personality. He co-hosted a popular television show entitled Real Talk, featuring himself and Lt. Col. Rick Hite of the Baltimore City Police Department that aired on TV25 in Baltimore. Since 2005, he has also hosted “Listen Up!” a youth-oriented radio program that garnered the award for “Best New Media” from the Association of Black Media Workers.

Farajii has appeared in numerous media outlets, including CNN, Matter of Fact, Al Jazeera, NewsOne, NPR, the Boston Globe, the Intercept, and others.
