Sign our petition: NO migrant child detention center in Greensboro!

Migrant children should be welcomed to the U.S. with dignity and compassion. They should be provided with a safe, nurturing environment that promotes their well-being.

But right now, the federal government is planning to open a detention center for migrant children in Greensboro, North Carolina. Many of the children who would be locked up there have fled violence and poverty and are seeking asylum in the U.S.

The government plans to pay for-profit corporations hundreds of millions of dollars to run the facility. These companies have a history of running facilities where child abuse, sexual assault, overcrowding, and neglect have occurred.

Join AFSC and partners in urging the Biden administration to abandon its plans for the detention center. Migrant children should be united with loved ones, not held in detention. They must be treated with the respect and dignity we all deserve.
