Tell President Biden: Uphold the right to asylum

Migrants should be welcomed with dignity and have their human rights respected.

But today, the United States is failing its obligation to do that. For the past two years, the U.S. has turned away hundreds of thousands of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border under Title 42. This anti-immigrant policy has deported many people back to dangerous conditions—and forced others to take treacherous routes, facing extreme heat, violence, and even death.

Although a district court had struck down Title 42 and ordered its end by December, several states have pushed to extend this cruel policy. In response, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to further delay the end of Title 42 possibly until June 2023. And recently, the Biden administration announced new draconian measures to bar migrants from seeking asylum and to further militarize our southern border.
