The crisis in Sudan is dire. More than 60,000 are dead, an estimated 12 million are displaced, and famine is spreading. A lack of access to food, health services, and education has shattered lives. Every day, more people are killed, injured, or subject to rape and sexual violence. Now there are fears another genocide is unfolding.
The U.S. must act now to halt this devastation. The U.S. government has already determined that the Rapid Response Forces (RSF) is committing genocide. It has also determined that both the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces have carried out widespread war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Now there are efforts in Congress to stop the flow of arms to Sudan and to push for more action to end the war.
Today, we must urge representatives and senators to support these congressional efforts. We must also call on elected officials to ensure vital humanitarian aid for Sudan—and push for long-term, sustainable peace.
