As a Quaker organization that believes every human life is sacred, AFSC has long worked to end the death penalty as well as life and long-term sentences. We know that the death penalty does not deter crime, disproportionately impacts people of color, and has led to the execution of numerous people who were later exonerated.
Despite years of declining use and many states abolishing the death penalty, President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to expand its use in both federal and state prison systems. Now we have an administration determined to kill more people in our name.
That's why it's time for every one of us to speak out and demand an end to this inhumane practice. Tell Congress and your governor: Abolish the death penalty once and for all!
