In Kenya, AFSC works to promote a culture of peace among youth and the communities in which they live. We also work with grassroots leaders to enhance effective community and national-level engagement around issues of peace.
In consultation with other peace groups, we design programs that address underlying, structural causes of conflict that date back to the country’s colonial era. The work includes trainings on nonviolent conflict resolution, negotiation skills, and advocacy. We promote healing and community cohesion, and address underlying causes of conflict, by using inclusive approaches around gender, youth, ethnicity, and faith.
