Member, Tempe Monthly Meeting (Arizona Half Yearly). Dave Wells is a convinced Quaker, discovering shared values while a visiting economic professor at Earlham College in 1996. Upon moving to a position at Arizona State University, where he's been on the faculty since 1998, he attended and joined Tempe Monthly Meeting. He was a lead organizer of anti-war efforts after 9/11 in the Phoenix area. He's in his fourth decade riding a bike to get places as much as possible, and has cutting edge vegan culinary skills. He co-founded the Grand Canyon Institute in 2011 and serves as its research director and is widely cited as a public policy expert by lawmakers and the media. He runs a marathon each year to raise funds for Mountain Friends Camp and volunteers in Arizona prisons as an Alternative to Violence Project facilitator. He served on the AFSC -Tucson area regional committee from 1998 to 2001 and continues to work with AFSC staff on prison-related issues and public policy.
