Álvaro has a PhD in Environmental Toxicology from University of California Riverside. He currently works for the California Air Resources Board evaluating the health impacts of air pollution and providing advice on how air quality regulations affect public health and environmental justice. Álvaro is a member of the Sacramento Friends Meeting. He has served on and clerked various committees for both the monthly and yearly meetings (Pacific Yearly Meeting), including Worship & Ministry, Oversight, Fellowship & Hospitality, Undocumented Student Scholarship, and Peace & Social Concerns. His interests are environmental justice, humane immigration reform, and photography.
