Brett Heinz serves as AFSC's Global Policy Coordinator for Economic and Climate Justice. In his role with the Global Policy and Strategy department, he works to promote policy solutions that provide for economic justice, climate sustainability, and lasting peace around the world.
He previously worked at the Center for Economic and Policy Research, where he studied US-Latin American relations and international economics. A frequent writer, Brett has helped author four public policy reports and dozens of articles for outlets like The American Prospect, Responsible Statecraft, and The Hill. His work has been translated into three languages and cited by major news outlets, books, academic journals, and political candidates.
Brett was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He received his BA in political science and public policy from UNC Chapel Hill, and his Masters in public policy from American University. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, watching horror movies, and reading.
