Abir Kopty is a leading social, feminist, and political activist born in Nazareth and currently based in Ramallah. She will speak about popular resistance, the challenges to resistance in Palestine, and why the BDS movement is important for resistance on the ground.

Abir is a former city council member in Nazareth and is now a media consultant and analyst, holding a Master’s degree in Political Communication from the City University of London. She is deeply involved in popular resistance in Palestine, and was active in the establishment of Bab Al Shams, a Palestinian village constructed on land in the E1 area of the West Bank that Israel had seized for the construction of Jewish only settlements.

She blogs at www.abirkopty.wordpress.com.
