Palm Sunday procession for peace

Palm Sunday procession for peace

Sunday, April 13, 2014 - 6:30pm

2:30 pm Gather at the Capitol West Mall

3:00 pm Process downtown

3:45 pm Worship at First United Methodist Church  1001 Pleasant St., Des Moines

A procession, led by a donkey, is followed by a prayer service for peace. We will raise our prayers and strengthen our resolve to follow the Palm Sunday message of speaking truth to power. We continue to urge political leaders to seek peaceful resolutions to ongoing world conflicts, to advocate against the use of drone warfare, and insist that “War is not the answer.” Rev. Matthew Mardis-LeCroy, Senior Minister Elect at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, will bring the reflection.

Organized by the Des Moines Area Ecumenical Committee for Peace.
