Monday, August 5, 2013 - 9:30pm to 10:30pm

I hope that you will participate in this year's Hiroshima Day peace demonstration at the Henry Moore atomic energy monument, the evening of Monday, August 5. The monument is on the University of Chicago campus, Ellis Avenue, between 56th and 57th Streets. Time of the rally will be 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., the approximate Chicago time that the bomb exploded over Hiroshima (8:15 a.m., August 6).

The program will include readings from eyewitness reports of the bombing, singing, poetry reading, a silent vigil, the distribution of leaflets, graphic displays, and an analysis of what the atomic bombings, and the starting of the first atomic pile at the spot marked by the monument, mean for humankind.

This event is sponsored by The Midwest Pacifist Center.
