Apir Kopty, a Palestinian feminist and political activist, will be touring the U.S. in June and will be in Providence June 9th at the Providence Friends Meeting House (99 Morris Ave, on the corner with Olney). We will have a potluck at 6pm and the program at 7pm. A flyer is attached. She will speak about the Palestinian popular committees, the challenges to resistance in Palestine, and why the international BDS movement is important for resistance on the ground.
Ms. Kopty is a former city council member in Nazareth and is now a media consultant and analyst, holding a Master’s degree in Political Communication from the City University of London. Recently she has worked with the group that established the village of Bab Al Shams on land in the West Bank that Israel had seized for the construction of Jewish only settlements, a creative nonviolent action that gained international attention in January. She blogs at www.abirkopty.wordpress.com.
