September's Iowa Peace Initiative Conference in Dubuque was the result of an AFSC call for a peace building conference among peace and justice organizations throughout the state. The conference was arranged with 25 co-sponsoring organizations for the weekend of the International Day of Peace.

Speakers included leadership from Veterans for Peace, Physicians for Social Responsibility, and the National Education Association Peace and Justice Caucus. Workshops included topics such as impacting the political process through birddogging candidates, Palestine-Israel, the "Cost of War," and city council resolutions.

About 100 people attended and committed to improve collaboration on peace work.
