Help Increase the Peace Project (HIPP)
The Help Increase the Peace Project is a participatory, experiential program developed by AFSC in 1991 to address issues of interpersonal violence, prejudice, and injustice with participants of all ages, with a focus on middle-and high-school age youth. HIPP is currently in use in more than thirty states and in countries around the world. AFSC trainers in South East New England bring more than ten years of experience facilitating HIPP sessions to our work.
AFSC in South East New England conducts one- and two-day trainings in the HIPP curriculum by request. Email us or download our brochure (PDF, 434 KB) for more information.
Because of HIPP's commitment to economic justice, payment for HIPP trainings is on a sliding scale.
Alternatives to Military Service
AFSC in South East New England offers counseling, resources, and education to people of all ages interested in clear answers to important questions of military enlistment, conscientious objection to war, options for funding education, possibilities of a military draft and non-military service opportunities.
AFSC is conducting a comprehensive campaign of counter-recruitment education and organizing designed to offer practical alternatives to military service while undermining the foundations of the militarization of youth. In high schools, town meetings, and in state legislatures, AFSC is working to give youth hope and to resist efforts to make students and rising leaders into soldiers.

Nonviolent Direct Action & Civil Disobedience
As a resource to local communities of activism, conscience, and resistance, AFSC SENE works with community groups and partner organizations to provide basic and in-depth training in the theory and practice of symbolic, strategic, and tactical nonviolence.
As part of the New England Nonviolence Trainers' Network, AFSC SENE has access to a diverse community of trainers and facilitators united only in their commitment to social change through the power of nonviolence.
If your group is preparing a nonviolent campaign, or if you are considering participation in an act of civil disobedience, we strongly urge you to seek training in methods of nonviolent action. Call us at the AFSC office or send us an email for more information and a confidential chat.
AFSC SENE also organizes and promotes trainings geared toward building the base of trained, action-ready community members in anticipation of future struggles. Join our mailing list to keep up to date on what we're doing.
