West Timor Program

Young people listening to the program leader.

East Timor youth gathered to learn new peace-building skills.

West Timor is a desperately poor area, with few resources or social services. AFSC works with local organizations in the city of Kupang and with communities along the border with East Timor. Together they address local conflict issues and build community capacity to settle disputes. The West Timor program has helped develop community based responses to domestic violence, built community solidarity in refugee resettlement areas, and  supported pilot work on conflict resolution with youth.
