New Mexico Agri-Cultura Network

In a unique initiative AFSC NM began a three-year program in the South Valley of Albuquerque, training beginning farmers in organic food production for institutional buyers such as the public schools. The program provides at least nine beginning farmers with comprehensive training, farm infrastructure (such as shared equipment and cold frames for winter production), tools, seeds, and the ability to aggregate product in a farmer network. Hundreds of other farmers will receive specific trainings on topics such as business planning and season extension, harvesting and post harvest handling, and marketing training.
