Chicago Truth in Recruitment Program

AFSC's Truth in Recruitment program works with youth, parents, and teachers interested in opposing the militarization of youth and works creatively for youth awareness of career alternatives.

Activities include:

Opt Out – This campaign, usually held in the fall, helps schools be aware of students rights to not have their names and information turned over to military recruiters.

Alternative Career Fair - College bound or not, many interesting and creative careers await youth besides military service. Fairs can be arranged at interested schools.

Social Justice Spring Break - Each year AFSC works with one school on a one week social justice intense training led by AFSC staff.

Peace, Here, There and Everywhere Summer Institute - a four week intense social justice training for high school aged social justice activists entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in Chicago Public schools.
