WOMEN AND A WELL-FED WORLD

In recognition of International Women’s Day. On March 7, Oxfam America, the Des Moines Area Sisters on the Planet Ambassadors, and the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Des Moines will be hosting Women and a Well-Fed World: Facing the Challenge – Gaining Ground. The program will feature Denise O’Brien, organic farmer and founder of the Women’s Food and Agriculture Network; Muthoni Muriu, director of Oxfam America’s Regional Programs; and at least one other speaker addressing the empowerment of women as a means to a more just and sustainable food system.  The evening will also include light refreshments featuring local foods and fair trade coffees and teas. There will be time for networking and sharing information. The program is free and open to the public. Check out the event on Facebook to RSVP.
