Revolution, Counter-revolution, and Philosophy--From Arab Spring to Occupy Wall Street, from the War on Women to Rising U.S. Fascism

Monday, March 26, 2012 - 6:30pm

News and Letters Committees invites you to a discussion on:
The Call for Convention to work out Marxist-Humanist Perspectives 2012-2013

Come to a discussion of world events, philosophy and revolution, based on the 2012 Call for Convention of News and Letters Committees.  Our age is in such total crisis, facing a choice between absolute terror or absolute freedom, that a revolutionary organization can no longer allow any separation between theory and practice, philosophy and revolution, workers and intellectuals, “inside” and “outside.” Join us in discussing these Perspectives. Topics include:

# The genocidal assault by Bashar al-Assad on the Syrian people
# A critique of those on the U.S. Left who “insist that enemy number one is U.S. imperialism and therefore Assad must not be opposed.”
# The reactionary nature of the presidential campaign
# The Occupy Movement
# The threat of war against Iran
# Practical relevance of the vision of a new society, and pitfalls of a “non-ideological” approach to revolution
