Pilsen - Little Village Nonviolence Education Conference: "Heal the Hood, Heal the World"

Saturday, September 21, 2013 - 1:00pm to 6:00pm

We hope you can join us for the Pilsen - Little Village Nonviolence Education Conference: "Heal the Hood, Heal the World" on Saturday - September 21, 2013 from 9am - 4pm.  The event will take place on the United Nations International Day of Peace.  This year, the United Nations International Day of Peace is focused on peace education and special activities and celebrations will take place all across the world.

This event is been organized by grassroots community members from the Pilsen and Little Village communities of Chicago and it will provide an opportunity for individuals and organizations to create peace on a special date shared globally.  Our hope is that it will serve as a day of consciousness to further the struggle for peace and justice in the Mexican immigrant communities of Chicago which encompass the South Lawndale area and the Lower West Side. The conference will be geared towards educators and social service providers interested in exploring the theories and practices of nonviolence and peacemaking.

Join us as we connect our local peace projects to global peace activism, linking the grassroots and international community.  This Nonviolence Education Conference will be the culminating event for the Violence Prevention Collaborative’s Healing The Hood Initiative 2013. Please RSVP, and we hope to see you there.

Program Includes:
· Panel: Local Priest, Parents and Youth Peace Activists
· Presentation: Restorative Justice Peace Circle Training (CEU's Available)
