the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King was assassinated on April 4th, 1968 while supporting striking sanitation workers.  Exactly one year before that he given the Riverside Church speech, in which he not only spoke out against the war in Vietnam but linked the problems of racisim, militarism and economic injustice.

  • The RI legislature to pass the Patriot Tax—a two year 2% tax on those making over $500,000 & a 4% tax on those making over $1,000,000.
  • Funding a War On Poverty at Home not Wars & Occupations Abroad.
  • Ensuring that everyone has the right to a Job, Affordable Housing, Education, Healthcare, and a Secure Retirement/Disability Income.
